We marked the beginning of summer with our 4th annual Disabled American Veterans fundraiser, supporting Alaska Metro Chapter 7. This chapter, headquartered in Anchorage, serves the entire veteran community across Alaska from a single office. Notably, it ranks among the highest in veterans served per capita nationwide. Alaska’s veterans make up 10.1% of the state’s population resulting in 1 in 10 residents being a veteran.
At OptimERA xG, we are privileged to host this impactful fundraiser benefiting our disabled veterans. Supported by other generous companies and driven by the heartfelt donations of our local community members, this event holds a special place in our hearts. It underscores our steadfast dedication to giving back and standing alongside those who have bravely served our nation.
The funds raised through our initiative go directly to the DAV of Alaska who in turn provides essential resources and assistance to our disabled veterans. From healthcare and rehabilitation to financial aid programs and more, every dollar raised makes a meaningful impact on the lives of those who have sacrificed their well-being for our nation’s security.
This year we were supported by Ravn Alaska, Offshore Systems Inc, LFS Marine Supplies Dutch Harbor, and local broadcasting nonprofit KUCB. Each company contributed to the success of this fundraiser by either donating goods to raffle off, monetary donations, or services towards making this event a success. At the end of the fundraiser, we were able to raise $3,180 for the DAV of Alaska and we couldn’t have done it without the support and donations made by these companies and the members of our community, both local and non-local.
The fundraiser features a two-week-long raffle culminating on the 4th of July. Following the community parade, residents gather at Tutiakoff Park in the heart of Unalaska, where numerous tables were set up offering games, food, art, and our raffle booth. Random community members were selected to draw the winning tickets. This year’s prizes were exceptional, including two roundtrip tickets from Ravn Alaska, a gift card from LFS Marine, OSI SWAG, locally made monkey fists, and an iPhone mini with 3 months of free unlimited service from OptimERA xG.
This fundraiser isn’t just about fulfilling a corporate responsibility; it’s a cause close to our hearts here at OptimERA. It’s about honoring the bravery and resilience of our veterans, ensuring they receive the support they deserve well beyond their years of service.
