OptimERA xG is excited to announce our sponsorship of Disney Williams as she prepares for the Ironman World Championship. As a company deeply rooted in rural Alaska, we are committed to supporting those who have been part of our community and honoring Indigenous heritage. Disney, who spent part of her childhood in Unalaska/Dutch Harbor, reached out to us for support, and we were thrilled to back her incredible journey. This sponsorship reflects our dedication to celebrating Indigenous individuals and cultures, including Disney’s Tsimshian and Tlingit heritage, showcasing the strength of community and cultural pride on the global stage.
Get to know Disney and her exciting journey to the Ironman World Championship through her short bio.
“Disney Williams never imagined she’d be gearing up for world-class triathlons when she first dipped her toes into the sport just over a year ago. But this Tsimshian and Tlingit woman—born in Metlakatla and having grown up in Unalaska and Ketchikan—has taken to triathlon training like a fish to water.
Juneau’s rugged landscape has become Disney’s training ground and second home. She tackles steep mountain trails and braves icy waters, all while dodging the occasional curious bear. The challenging Alaskan weather keeps her on her toes, forcing her to adapt and overcome, skills that have proved invaluable in competition.
Her hard work has paid off in spades. Disney has already secured her ticket to the 2024 Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Taupo, New Zealand, and the 2024 USA Triathlon Sprint Distance National Championships in Atlantic City. Not bad for a rookie.
But for Disney, it’s about more than just crossing finish lines. She sees each grueling training session and every race as a chance to honor her heritage and inspire others. As she puts it, “If a small-town Alaska Native woman can make it to the world stage, anyone can chase their dreams—no matter how wild they seem.”
With the majestic Tongass National Forest as her training partner and the spirit of her ancestors driving her forward, Disney Williams is ready to show the triathlon world what Alaskan grit is all about.”
